New Shelter Update

We have been in our new shelter since March 1, 2012 and amazingly discovered this move has turned out so well for our shelter and most of all our cats. It was basically a metal warehouse with an office and a large back work area with a roll up door. It was the only available and adequate location we could find and Butte County was very helpful with our search. In order to make this square box suitable for our residents, a kitchen/laundry room and comfortable sleeping quarters, had to be built. We had a few frantic weeks of all day building, painting, cleaning, installing, stocking and finally moving over 60 cats from a location that had existed for thirteen years to a strange new home. Many volunteers and friends helped and it was all accomplished including setting up a reception area, office and med room by our vacate date. This was a little stressful for the kitties adjusting to new surroundings but they have progressed much better than we expected. Some of our ferals who never came out of hiding are now out with all the others adoptables and becoming friendly. They all seem happy, comfortable and very playful. After screening in the big roll up warehouse door they have a wonderful area to lie in the sun and get fresh air. A future additional outside screened in area is in progress and we are now aggressively adopting and have a new mission for our future.
