Once upon a time, there were two orange kitties who met at the nicest cat shelter in town. They were both a little shy but had lots of love to give and couldn’t wait for their furrever family to find them. These are their stories:
Mason’s Story
Mason (formerly known as Marmalade) lived on the street near Tri Counties Bank and the Stansbury House (5th and Salem, downtown Chico) for several months. Several bank employees and neighbors fed him to make sure he was fed and safe. Bank employees were able to finally catch him and surrendered him to CCC so that he could have a better life.
While he was at the vet for his initial checkup, he was scanned for a microchip and found active contact information. The vet contacted the owner, who lost him a few years ago and has since moved out of the state. The owner was so happy to hear he was doing well, but surrendered their rights to him so he could find a great home. After just 3 months, Marmalade was adopted by his new dad Erik in July 2023.
Oscar’s Story
When Oscar’s owner moved to Chico, he couldn’t keep Oscar where he moved, so he surrendered Oscar to us at CCC. This owner cared deeply for Oscar and brought in a case of wet food to the shelter nearly every month while Oscar lived with us.
With lots of love and patience from all volunteers, Oscar began to show just what a sweet and loving boy he is. Oscar and Marmalade became friends at the shelter in 2023, and they spent a lot of time out on the Small Room Catio. After just a few months, new dad Erik came back to adopt Oscar as well. Now they are brothers!
